Charles,
Julia, James and Rosalind
Christmas News 2007
Another year with nothing earth shattering. Wonderful!
In
the spring, we made a trip out to Jakarta, Indonesia, to visit
Julia's brother and family. It was great for the cousins to get to
know each other more; and delightful hospitality and food for the
adults!
We
took it easy later in the summer, with a week's beach holiday in
Northumberland. Well – it was a holiday near beaches, at least.
We spent a pleasant and energetic time cycling round together
exploring castles and gardens in the area. We also managed to all
travel to Shropshire together by bike and train for the weekend for
Cressida Cook's christening, Julia's new god-daughter.
James
is now in his second year at school, and devours every children's
book he can lay his hands on. Rosalind starts school next year, and
has a passion for drawing and colouring. They love playing together –
most of the time!
Julia has moved to work from home, which makes her life more flexible. She's planning a PhD on Common Land in Cumbria and Indonesia – some field work will clearly be required!
Charles company, Penrillian, has increased further in size, to over 18 people now – and now has a positive net worth! The success brings new challenges for Charles' Managing Director role – never the same two years running.
The
triumph this autumn has been the publication of 'The Aglionbys
1130-2002', the book Julia's father Francis was working on when he
died. Susan put in a huge effort, with much support from John and
Julia, to get a historian to finish it and to arrange the
publication; and the
result is very impressive.
Now we’re looking forward to a packed Christmas; Grandparents Arthur, Susan, and Charles' sister Pip with Amar and family are coming for Christmas, and more friends will join us for the New Year, so it should be fun.
As always, we’ve
ample space for visitors, and we want to see you. Please do come and
visit when you can!
